I am a OCI candidate. Am I eligible to apply for various programs offered at IISc?
Candidates who hold non-Indian passports, but are Overseas Citizen of India(OCI) Cardholders, fall under either Category-1 or Category-2, as described here. Category-1 OCI applicants should apply through the Online Admissions Portal for domestic students. International applicants and Category-2 OCI applicants should apply though the Office of International Relations (OIR).
Is there an NRI quota at IISc?
No, there is no NRI quota for admissions at IISc. The candidate has to apply through the regular admission portal.
How does one fill the online application form for admissions?

- Bachelor of Science (Research) program
- Is there any course available at IISc after the 12th Standard?
- Yes, 4 year Bachelor of Science (Research) program is offered at IISc. The candidate must have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in +2/12th Standard. In addition, the candidate needs to qualify in one of the national tests – KVPY/ IIT-JEE (Main) or (Advanced)/ NEET-UG.
- What are the subjects offered in the Bachelor of Science (Research) program?
- There is no specific subject offered in the Bachelor of Science (Research) program. The student must study Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology, Earth and Environmental Science, and Materials. Only in the fourth year a specialized subject will be given to the student based on the interest and performance of the student in the subject.
- What is the duration for the Bachelor of Science (Research) program?
- Can I apply for Biology in the undergraduate program?
- No, there is no specific subject offered in the Bachelor of Science (Research) program. You can take biology as the major subject in the courses.
- Is there an Aeronautical course available at IISc?
- No, there is no Aeronautical course available at IISc for 10+2 candidates.
- Is there any Engineering course offered at IISc for +2 candidates?
- No, there is no Engineering course offered at IISc for 10+2 candidates.
- When does the semester start?
- The Semester starts from the 1st working day of August.

- An Online application will be available from the 1st of February every year till the end of April. There is no offline application form.

- B.E./B.Tech. equivalent examinations of Professional Societies, recognized by MoE/UPSC/AICTE (e.g AMIE by Institutions of Engineers).Note: Candidates enrolled upto 31.05.2013 with professional societies(e.g AMIE) recognized by MoE are only eligible to apply.
- I have a Diploma and I am an AMIE degree holder; am I eligible to apply to M.Tech./ Research programs?
- B.E./B.Tech. equivalent examinations of Professional Societies, recognized by MoE/UPSC/AICTE (e.g AMIE by Institutions of Engineers).Note: Candidates enrolled upto 31.05.2013 with professional societies(e.g AMIE) recognized by MoE are only eligible to apply.
- What are the criteria for applying to M.Tech./ M.Des. programs?
- BE/B Tech with minimum of second class with a valid GATE score is the criterion for M.Tech./ M.Des. programs with a valid GATE/CEED.
- What is the duration of M.Tech./M.Des./ M Mgt programs?
- The duration is 2 years (4 semesters).

- Integrated Ph.D. program
- I have a degree from a CFTI. Can I apply for the Integrated PhD program without a JEST/JAM score?
- Unfortunately, the waiver of a national entrance test for applicants with a 4-year degree from a CFTI and a CGPA >=8.0 out of 10.0 is only allowed for those applying to our regular PhD programmes. Those applying to the Integrated PhD programme need to meet the Eligibility criteria listed here.
- What are the streams/disciplines available in the Integrated Ph.D. program?
- Integrated Ph.D. programs in the Biological, Chemical, Physical and Mathematical Sciences are available.
- I am an M Sc, Biotechnology candidate and am in the 2nd semester, with a B Sc in Microbiology, am I eligible to apply for the Integrated Ph.D. program?
