3rd March 2018 – Founders Day

The founder of IISc, Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata was born on March 3rd 1839 in Navsari, Gujarat, India. As a tribute to his munificence and vision, the Institute celebrates March 3rd as the Founder’s Day. A flower-show around the Tata statue is on display every year on the Founder’s Day until after the Open Day in IISc. This Tata statue in IISc was created by British sculptor Gilbert Bayes.
