MeitY’s Global Cyber Challenge Peace-a-thon at IISc (November 8-9, 2017)

The Indian Institute of Science hosted a hackathon (“the Global Cyber  Challenge Peace-a-thon 2017”), conducted under the auspices of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, on November 8th and 9th. This regional event, together with other events held at various IITs throughout the country, will serve as the run-up for the grand finale, to be held in New Delhi on November 20th and 21st in conjunction with the Global Conference on Cyberspace (GCCS-2017).

Several IISc and external students participated in the marathon which lasted 34 continuous hours of intensive systems programming in the IISc campus. The participants  built  applications to address a number of cyber-security challenges, such as detecting fake news articles, providing recourses for digital-fraud victims, and addressing the problem of cyber-bullying.  The event was coordinated by Prof. Vinod Ganapathy from the Department of Computer Science and Automation at IISc.

As part of MeitY’s efforts, a “capture-the-flag” competition will also be held on November 12th and 13th. Further details may be found at this website: https://innovate.mygov.in/cyber-challenge/
