Prof. A G Ramakrishnan and his postdoc, Dr. Kanishka Sharma got the best paper award of the IEEE Bangalore Humanitarian Technology Conference held during Oct. 8 – 10, 2020

ICUs were created to protect vulnerable patients from possible infection from outside. However, when serious COVID-19 patients are admitted into an ICU, the reverse is true. The patients are already infected to the core and we need to protect the doctors and nurses from being infected from them. Under such circumstances, the current ICUs are detrimental to the health of doctors. This paper, “Redesign of the COVID-19 ICUs to save the Corona warriors” (full paper) gives critical suggestions to redesign the ICUs to prevent the health care workers from dying.
