Students’ Council

The Students’ Council, IISc consists of elected representatives (from the students) who promote and protect the interest of the students at the Institute. The Council also publishes Scampus, the students’ newsletter.


IISc Photography Club

IISc Photography Club provides a platform for the photography enthusiasts in the campus to interact and refine their talents in capturing the wonderful world around them. We conduct regular training sessions, weekly discussions, annual exhibitions and photo walks for students to explore different perspectives in photography.


Looking Around

Looking Around is a students’ forum for interdisciplinary interactions.


Women’s forum, IISc

Women’s forum, IISc is involved in many activities like, arranging classes to staff and spouse of employees, important lectures by eminent speakers, summer camp to children, painting classes and cooking classes. One of the main events every year is International Women’s Day on March 8 and Annual Day during the month of October.


IISc Amateur Astronomy Club

IISc Amateur Astronomy Club was started late 1997. Membership is open to all students and faculty of IISc. As of now, what we do is meet on the Raman Building rooftop at night to look at the stars, as opposed to talking about black holes and the big bang !


Faculty Club

The Faculty Club of the Indian Institute of Science is located in a pleasant bungalow set in spacious grounds within the campus. It was started in 1929 as the Staff Club, later redesignated as the Faculty Club. Membership is constituted by the Faculty and Officers. The club is open from 7am to 9 pm on weekdays and from 11am to 7 pm on Sundays and holidays.


IISc Freethinkers group

Freethought is a philosophical viewpoint that holds that opinions should be formed on the basis of science, logic and reason, and should not be influenced by authority, tradition, or any dogma. It is very different from “free thought”.
