IISc students win laurels at Simon Marais competition 2021


IISc students have performed well at the annual Simon Marais competition held this year.

  • The best entry from India both in Singles (Raghuram Sundararajan) and Pairs (Spandan Ghosh and Anish Hebbar) categories are from IISc
  • Raghuram Sundararajan has won the third prize overall (A$1250) and a merit prize for the solution to problem B2 (A$1000), and Spandan Ghosh & Anish Hebbar will receive the Stonehage-Fleming Prize (A$400).
  • In addition, there are 8 teams from IISc in the top quartile. IISc has placed 8th overall.

he Simon Marais Mathematics Competition is an annual competition that aims to encourage creative mathematical problem-solving among undergraduate students, identify talented students across many regions of the world including the Asia-Pacific, forge links between academics involved in the Competition, and promote healthy competition among students as well as between universities.
