Institutions and Innovators

Location: Faculty Hall

This event includes a panel discussion and talks, and is part of the “Dialogue: Science, Scientists and Society” Initiative of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bengaluru.

The event aims to explore the role that can be played by research and educational institutes with respect to supporting the innovation ecosystem. Research institutes have a wealth of rich talent in terms of faculty as well as cutting-edge infrastructure.
However, their primary mandate is teaching and research/technology development. We see relatively few examples where institutes have supported the translation of research/technology into innovation. This event seeks to explore this theme, identify roadblocks
in terms of processes and/or mindsets, and make recommendations that might further such translation. It starts with a panel discussion to identify the potential issues in this context. The panel discussion will be followed by talks (after tea), to address the
issues raised during the panel discussion.
