Paraspar Lecture : Even at the Nanoscale… Society’s deep impact on science, technology and innovation in India by Pankaj Sekhsaria

Paraspar, an initiative of the Office of Communications (OoC) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), is a platform for conversations about knowledge systems, particularly science.

PARASPAR

Invites you to a webinar series on

JOURNEY OF DISCOVERY IN SCIENCE

This series will explore the journey of scientific discoveries. Very often, science is known only by its finished product. But the path is not revealed. Through these lectures, we attempt to unravel the processes of science, including the struggles and failures.

Even at the Nanoscale… Society’s deep impact on science, technology and innovation in India

Abstract: Nanoscale – Society’s deep impact on science, technology and innovation in India is Pankaj Sekhsaria’s new book based on six years’ research across five nanoscience and technology laboratories in three cities of India. The webinar will present the simultaneous stories of these labs and also the story of his own journey through these labs. The presentation will also draw upon his other recent book Instrumental Lives – an intimate biography of an Indian laboratory (Routledge 2019), which is a detailed account of the making of perhaps the earliest scanning tunneling microscopes in India in the late 1980s in the physics department at the Savitribai Phule Pune University.
