PARASPAR

Invites you to a webinar series on

Science and Society

Science has emerged both as an instrument of power and a tool of emancipation. Owing to this two-pronged nature, no other system of knowledge affects the society so acutely and immediately like science. In this webinar series we attempt to elucidate the ideal relationship of science with society.

Sciencing for Society (Click here for the poster)

Abstract: Through my observation and understanding living with the Pawaras—a forest dwelling tribe, I will trace how science would have traversed from being a primeval serendipitous endeavors to curiosity for better understanding the world and easy living. From here, how it might have been constrained and shaped by religion and ideology to the present day where science is directed primarily by the industry and the state and hence exists principally as a tool at their service. I will share my ideas on a possible relationship of science and society and my experience pursuing this over the past years.
