Megaliths: Missives from the “Silent” Period of History (Poster)

Abstract:<  Megaliths are enigmatic monuments from prehistory found throughout the world. In India, megaliths are primarily concentrated in the southern part of the country, though there are pockets where megalith-building were practiced in other parts, too. Today, we know that megaliths were mostly funerary and commemorative structures loosely associated with the Iron Age. However, there are many questions about these monuments which are still unanswered. This talk will be an introduction to megaliths, with visuals from several sites all over the subcontinent from more than a decade of field observations.
