Two faculty members selected as Associates of Indian Academy of Sciences (IAS)

Dr Vidya Mangala Prasad (Assistant Professor, Molecular Biophysics Unit) and Dr Sai Gautam Gopalakrishnan (Assistant Professor, Department of Materials Engineering) have been selected as Associates of the Indian Academy of Sciences (IAS).

Dr Vidya Mangala Prasad’s research focuses on high resolution structural analysis of human disease-causing viruses, their infection machinery and mechanisms of cellular entry across membranes using cryo-electron tomography, sub-tomogram averaging, single-particle cryo-electron microscopy and other biophysical methods.

Dr Sai Gautam Gopalakrishnan’s research interests include applying principles of computational materials science, thermodynamics, and kinetics to understand and predict material behaviour. His lab specifically looks at materials that have applications in energy storage (batteries), and energy harvesting (photovoltaics and thermochemical water splitting).
