Two international awards for Prof Mahesh Kakde


Prof Mahesh Kakde from the Department of Mathematics has won two international awards for his research contributions:

1. The Whitehead Award by the London Math Society, for his outstanding contributions to Iwasawa theory and the solution of famous and important conjectures in number theory related to zeta and L-values, and for advances on Hilbert’s 12th problem.

2. The Frontiers of Science Award, for his work on the paper titled ‘On the Gross-Stark conjecture’, which he co-authored with Dr Samit Dasgupta (Duke University) and Dr Kevin Ventullo (Google).
