“Why do frogs do what they do?Â
Insights from behavioural ecological studies on the Western Ghat Anurans”
Abstract: There is huge diversity in frog behaviour – some bellow loudly like a cow while others whistle like birds, some are green and some turn yellow; some are silent while others foot flag. There are some that lay eggs and leave, while some spend time taking care of the eggs. Having worked in the diverse field of behavioural ecology of frogs, I will share some stories and insights from my research in the Western Ghats on bioacoustics, multimodal signalling and breeding behaviour.
