Nature and Cultures of Science: A Feminist Take (poster)
Abstract: This talk is an attempt to popularise the field of science studies, particularly feminist science studies. It aims to introduce the audience to a few necessary methodological principles that are important in bringing about a collaboration between natural and social scientists. As a feminist sociologist, I use an intersectional lens to critically examine modern western science. I argue that it is constructed and practiced in deeply gendered ways. I also submit that the scientific imagination needs to be overhauled so that it leads to a more plural and just discourse in and around science.
