Visa Information
You need to apply either for a tourist visa, or if you will be paid a salary by the Indian Institute of Science, you need to apply for an employment visa. Apply for your visa at the Indian Embassy/Consulate nearest to you with the appointment/invitation letter and other necessary documents.

Housing
If your host has agreed to provide you with on-campus accommodation, you will be accommodated in one of the Guest Houses of the Institute.

Health Insurance
Only minor illnesses can be treated at the Institute Health Centre. Therefore it is prudent to carry an appropriate health insurance that covers the entire duration of your stay at IISc.

    Registration with Police
    All foreigners arriving at the Institute who are likely to stay for more than 180 days in India have to report to Police (Commissioner of Police, Bangalore City, Bangalore) within 14 days from the date of arrival in India (not the date of arrival in Bangalore). You need to bring 6 passport size photos and your passport to IRC Office as soon as you arrive at IISc.
