The Institute offers three Masters’ programmes based on course work: Master of Technology (M. Tech.), Master of Design (M. Des.) and Master of Management (M. Mgt.). Details of the Master of Management (M. Mgt.) program are here. The Institute admits about 450 students every year for its course programmes. We also admit about 50 sponsored candidates from various government agencies and PSUs, and details for this are given here. We also offer an M.Tech.(Online) program for working professions from companies that have an agreement with IISc, and details are given here.
The Minimum Eligibility requirements, Selection Procedure and Instructions for Online Application applicable to all M. Tech. and M. Des. disciplines are given at the bottom of this page.
The departments and centres participating in the August 2023 Admissions are listed below. The disciplines offered, and the approved intake, minimum qualifications, selection processand areas of study for a discipline, are given in the tables below. Candidates can apply to a maximum of 3 disciplines from the M. Tech. and M. Des. programs.
Some disciplines decide the admissions based solely on standard qualifying exam and Career Analysis Marks (CAM) in prior schooling and/or degrees. Other disciplines also require an interview and/or a written aptitude test on dates listed here. These are described below.
Candidates with qualifications in B.E. / B. Tech. or an equivalent degree should have qualified and hold valid GATE score card as on 1st August 2023.
For the M. Des. Programme – Candidates with qualifications in BE/ B. Tech./ B. Des./ B. Arch. degrees, should have qualified in GATE or CEED and hold a valid score card as on 1st August 2023.
You should apply through the Online Admissions Applications Portal. Instructions for the portal are provided here.
Please see this page for external links to the relevant qualifying exams.
